Moon Knight On Disney

Moon Knight is Marvel Studios' biggest gambling game at Disney + so far. Yes, this is the first of these expensive series, led by a completely new character for MCU, but this character is both complex and often overtly inaccessible, loved by Marvel Comics fans and sometimes ridiculed by those who consider it. Be a less cool version of Marvel's Batman.

First Episode

Well, in this first episode of the new Disney + show, we get the impression of a completely zero Batman, where we meet Stephen Grant (his element of Oscar Isaac), a courageous employee of the British Museum's gift shop who thinks he has a sleep disorder. . Stephen locks himself in bed every night and seals the door to make sure he doesn't wander the streets of London during his sleep. However, he is still tired and regularly enters the hot water at work because he is late and has thoughts over the station.

Steven is passionate about ancient Egypt, and it seems that he is a lovely man who is about to start a romance with a beautiful colleague whom he does not remember meeting. Suddenly, Stephen voiced his concern: “If I ever had a boyfriend, I wouldn't be able to restrain my ankles in bed, would I? This is the definition of a red flag. ”And that made me laugh for the first time. If there was a documentary film crew filming me, I would look directly at the camera.

Of course, it wasn't long before Stephen got out of bed and found himself in trouble. While trying to catch forty eyes, he crosses a road and suddenly faces an imminent danger. Apparently, he was on a mission to steal a gold scarab from the hands of the murderous religious leader Arthur Harrow (Ethan Hawke, who lives an open life), who carried out executions on behalf of the Egyptian goddess Ammit. . He can tell you whether your bad deeds outweigh your good deeds. And what if these evil deeds are part of a muddy future that has not yet occurred? Yes, he will squeeze them into a bud.

Harrou is identified as our bad guy when he judges a few of his followers with a mysterious wand and some scales, and even though Hawke chews on the mysterious scene, it seems pretty stupid before the disturbing sequence comes down. slap In fact, there are so many wonderful things in this episode that it's a bit tainted by either the unusual CG or Isaac's quick central performance like Stephen, which is unfortunate .

This is also the point where events are inevitable in the episode. Panicked, Stephen spins back and forth between himself and the mercenary Mark Spector, who works with the Egyptian moon god Honshu. Moon Knight fans who are interested in how MCU will deal with Spector's brutal fighting style will probably be a little worried to discover that in this first episode, Mark uses cuts between the two personalities instead of fully exposing his bloody moments. battles as Disney friendly as possible.

The back half of the episode is about helping Stephen realize that his little life is fake thanks to Mark's interaction, and during this time he is persecuted by Khonshu. Not in vain, I love Khonshu's design for the series, it looks really perfect! It is wonderful that F. Murray chose Abraham as the voice of the moon god.

Stephen also learns that a woman named Leila (we can probably assume that this is the MCU version of Marlene in the comics) was looking for Mark for a long time before the immoral Harrow spoke quietly and openly to Stephen. In Ammit and if he was around, like Rhodey, who strangled Thanos, baby Hitler / Paul Pot / would kill everything completely! Hey boy.

Finally, we can see the short, fully adapted Moon Knight movement, when Stephen Mark's personality allows the body of one of Harrow's magic jackals to be taken to school, and some museum objects look almost like ordinary public toilets. Great Britain. It would probably be better to include British music festivals.

The Goldfish Problem is a fairly solid introduction to the world of Moon Knight, but it feels like it has this level of freedom of performance when it comes to the description of Johnny Depp in the Pirates of the Caribbean, the father of the internet. Especially Steven and your walk can vary depending on how well it works for you. Isaac's English accent is probably a rollercoaster for anyone living in the UK (sometimes it sounds like money, but others don't) - the next episode hints that we'll get more American Stamps.

There are certain limitations to telling the story of the Moon Knight, regardless of the environment and when approaching one, there are usually three main options: you can put it in the middle of the Marvel Universe at street level, try to study All Egyptian mythology and its mental health journey.

He is a courageous writer who tries all three, because there are so many angles to enter! Here, the writing team chose the second and third options, but there is still so much to argue about, and perhaps it was difficult to trick them all, given the limitations of the six-episode series. In any case, it's hard to imagine what a slower version of this series could offer us on Netflix.

Final Verdict

I'd say it's refreshing to watch Easter eggs (for comic book fans, Marc's flip phone has a short description of the name "Duchamp") or the ambitious Marvel show, which isn't full of calls in the universe: Moon Knight doesn't have to throw bread crumbs and just keep talking. can do. The MCU version of Stephen Grant is certainly quite annoying, but at least he's a very different protagonist for us. I wonder how Stephen's tender, kind heart could later contrast with Mark's mercenary savagery.
