Top Gun Maverick Review

In the first Top Gun film of 1986 - this anti-Strangelove Cold War classic - US Navy fighter pilot Lt Pete "Maverick" Mitchell is accused of allowing his ego to write checks that his body could not cash. What's even harder is that the new reception includes Bradley's "Rooster" Bradshaw (Miles Teller), the son of Goose, played by Anthony Edwards in the first film: Maverick's winger and friend, many in his fate (including the Rooster) still blame Maverick. But you can't be angry with Maverick or keep him on the ground for long.  

Rock N Roll Scenes

There are a lot of rock-n-roll fighter-pilot movements in this film, but strangely enough, there was none of the homoerotic tension in which the boys lined up in the Navy recruiting booths set up in the foyers of the cinemas at the time.  

Surprisingly, this is actually less progressive on gender issues than the original film, which manages a woman: Charlotte Blackwood, an astrophysicist played by Kelly McGillis, was a trainer (inspired by Pentagon official Christine Fox).  

Maverick

Now Maverick is in charge and under his direction there is only one female pilot: Phoenix, a thin role for Monica Barbaro. McGillis was probably not called back and his character was never mentioned.  

Maverick Love Interest
