Sai Pallavi is back with another exciting film, Gargi. The film was released all over the world. Let's see how the movie is.
Gargi (Sai Pallavi) is a school teacher living a decent life in Hyderabad. Her father (RS Shivaji), a security guard, is accused of raping a girl in the flat where he works. The police arrest him and a desperate Gargi fights for justice and without any lawyer, seeks the help of lawyer Gireeshan Kappaganthula (Kaali Venkat). previous experience. Does he win the case? How does a novice lawyer defend a case? Everything will be answered if you watch the main movie.
The story is nothing new for our audience but it is the story that makes Gargi a great movie. Director Gautham Ramachandran displays extraordinary storytelling skills from the very first shot. He carries the show well.
No introduction is needed about Lady Power Star Sai Pallavi and her amazing acting prowess. She performs with ease and does well in the role of a middle-class woman with so many problems and responsibilities. He lives in the image of Gargi.
Apart from that, Kaali Venkat is seen in a good role. He plays a lawyer who comes forward to help Gargi when everyone turns his back. His scenes are quite good and especially in the court sessions. He acts well as a novice lawyer intent on winning the case.
The rest of the cast like RS Shivaji, Jayaprakash and Aishwarya Lekshmi do their best. The child actress playing the role of young Gargi makes her mark even though she is seen for a very limited time. The dialogues are good especially in the court related scenes.
As said above, the story is quite simple and the director reveals it in the first scenes. Although the film goes well in the first part, the director slows it down even more in the second part. Some scenes give you a sense of repetition. Scenes become a hindrance to the narrative and thus bore the audience.
Aishwarya Lekshmi plays a journalist and her character could have been written well. The character has ample opportunities to make the story more intense, but no. Looks like Aishwarya is doing an extended cameo as she is one of the producers.
Not only him, but the film has many unnecessary characters who are not involved in the main story. Showing Gargi's childhood traumas is a good idea by the director. However, their placement is incorrect.
Gautham Ramachandran delivers a decent film dealing with women and the problems they face in society. He gives a neat explanation of this through Aishwarya in the climax. He succeeds as a director, but fails to explain it in a compelling way, mostly in the second half. Cinematography by Sraiyanti and Premkrishna Akkatu is good. Govind Vasantha's music is extraordinary and enhances many scenes in the film. Editing by Shafique Mohamed Ali is good but he could have cut many unnecessary scenes. The production values are also good.
All in all, Gargi is an emotional legal drama about sexual exploitation. Sai Pallavi steals the show with her outstanding performance. Except for a few scenes in the second half, Gargi is watchable. If you like serious court dramas, you can watch it in cinemas.
