She has now come to the fore with Santosh Kambhampathi's 'Boyfriend on Rent'. It hit the screens today and let's find out how it goes.

  Story:

Arjun (Viswant) hires himself out as a boyfriend and thus keeps meeting every girl. Impressed by his looks and charm, Natasha (Pooja Ramachandran) hires him for a one-night stand and tries to have sex with Arjun. Arjun stops her and explains that she is a virgin who does not cross the border. Why is Arjun doing all this? Who is Divya (Malavika)? What is Divya's advantage in Arjun's life? Watch the movie to know the answers.

  Extra Points:

The main thing that catches our eye in this movie is the chemistry between the lead pair. Both Viswant and Malavika looked good together and shared a great on-screen chemistry which is much required for a rom-com. The love trail of these two is satisfactorily portrayed.

There is a comfort in his acting, he looks very good in fashionable clothes. Malavika, the female lead, has done well in the film. She looked charming and more importantly, she got a good role filled with the right emotions.

The first part is fast paced and has some interesting moments. It's good that the drama in places doesn't last long. The comedy bits are decent and the final sequence featuring Sudharshan came out well.

  Negative points:

One of the main shortcomings of the film is the lack of clarity in the characterization of the hero. The emotions and stories in the film are routine, but the makers have tried to present them in a new way. Unfortunately, this is where the director went wrong. Hence, the film tries to have a modern touch with the hero's character but ultimately fails.

The second half of the film is very slow and drags on unnecessarily. The story could have ended sooner but the director added some unnecessary scenes which gave us the feeling of watching a long movie.

Those who are expecting some spicy and daring content by looking at the title may be somewhat disappointed after watching the movie.

  Technical Aspects:

Gopi Sundar's background score is average but his few songs are good on screen. Bala Saraswathi's cinematography is neat and the shots are colorful to watch. However, the editing team had to cut a few parts in the final hours to make the film feel better.

The production values are weird. As far as the director Santosh is concerned, he has absolutely done a good job with the film. His attempt to present an old story in a modern way is excellent, but his narration is not up to par. Moreover, his design of the main lead is not very impressive. Things would have been better if he had been careful in this important aspect.

  Verdict:

All in all, Boyfriend For Hire is strictly a piecemeal rom-com. Drama and emotions in several places are its strengths. But the movie turns nasty in the second half and doesn't rise to one dimension.
