Karthi is riding high with the success of his last film Ponniyin Selva. He is back with a new action drama titled Sardaar which hits the screens today. Let's see how it is.

  Story:

Vijay (Karthi) is a sincere cop who always does his best and his department is also quite happy with his efforts. He loves lawyer Shalini (Raashi Khanna) and seeks greater goals in life. Several RAW agents want this project stopped at any cost. Left with no choice, Sardaar is mobilized to deal with this situation. Who is this Sardar? What is the relationship between Vijay and Sardaar? What is this whole project about? To know the answers, you need to watch the movie on the big screen.

  Extra Points:

Karthi is getting better with every film. He plays a double role in this film and plays it. The difference he showed in the two characters was wonderful. She will be seen in different shots in this film and the body language she uses for each one is amazing. Karthi is one of the main assets and showcases himself in a new avatar in this film.

Raashi Khann is acting well and she gives ample support to Karthi and looks good on screen. Actress Leyla appeared in the lead role yesterday and it was nice to see her after a long break. Chunkey Pandey has played an important role and he does extremely well in every movie and was deadly in Sardaar.

Another hero Rajisha also did a good job in his role. The fight sequences are smooth and keep the audience engaged. The way the thrills are presented in a stylish way reveals how good the technical values of the film are.

  Negative points

In the second half, the stakes are quite high and there were opportunities for more drama and excitement, but director Mithran doesn't use it properly and renders some scenes very predictable. A sharper narration would have made matters better.

The climax is good, but it's not as impactful as one would expect after watching the entire movie. A firmer bang at the end would be quite nice. The film starts off on a slow note and the runtime had to be edited a bit to clear up the issue.

  Technical Aspects:

As said earlier, Sardaar is superior in technical aspects. Its music is average but the composed BGM is simply amazing. Goerge Williams' camerawork is amazing and solidly carries the film. Telugu dubbing is also very good.

As far as director Mithran is concerned, he has done a good job with the film. He has written a moving story and narrated it beautifully. If he made the film crisp, the output would have been great. It has solidly showcased Karti and fans will love her in the new role.

  Verdict:

All in all, Sardaar is a stylish and moving emotional spy drama. The movie is a bit long and has a few problems in the second half. But Karthi's solid performance, strong content with good thrills overcomes all the issues and makes this movie a good watch this festive season. Go for it.
