Movie Plot
Baby(Lakshmi) is a hyper elderly woman who runs a canteen by herself. His domineering nature is not liked by his daughter-in-law. Due to a minor family quarrel, Baby is kicked out of the house. But strange things happen in her life and Baby wishes to become this young lady and resume her life. The rest of the story is how the new and young Baby (Samantha) takes advantage of this opportunity and enjoys her life peacefully.
Even though the movie is a remake, the way Nandini Reddy has shot the movie in Telugu is excellent. She is perfect in her work and Oh Baby is Nandini's best work till date.
It's hard to put into words what Samantha did with Oh Baby. He completely owns the film and takes you on a journey with his emotional, witty and career-best performance. In the film, you will see the actress Samantha, not the star. All her scenes with Rajendra Prasad and the climax with Rao Ramesh will make your eyes water. Be it his comedic timing dressing, Sam is proving to be in top form in his career right now.
The film cannot be imagined without Rajendra Prasad. He is so good as Sam's best friend and shares perfect chemistry with great actor Samantha. His expressions are laughable in the film. The first fifteen are the key to the film and in setting this part right, senior actor Lakshmi plays a major role with an expert performance that sets the pace beautifully.
Naga Shourya looks handsome and looks neat in his supporting role. Rao Ramesh does an emotional role and the family values displayed by his role is simply amazing and a big plus for the film. Child actor turned hero, Teja is doing well in his first film. He takes on a meaty role and absolutely fascinates. Sunaina is very good as Rajendra Prasad's nagging daughter.
Pragati suits her role and evokes pleasant emotions. The first half of the film is full of funny comedy and sensitive emotions. The climax is well done and the way things end seems complete too.
The second half of the movie is a bit slow and long. Processes could be streamlined to improve things.
The proceedings become a little predictable in the second half as the pace slows down and gets a little boring here and there.
The production values of the film are high as the film looks rich in many areas. The film has a heartwarming feel to it and it is beautifully shot by the cinematographer. Editing is almost as good as ten minutes could have been cut. Samantha is perfectly styled and so is Naga Shourya. Mickey J Meyer's music is great but his BGM was awesome.
Special credit must be given to Chinmayi as her dubbing gave a special boost to Sam's performance. As for director Nandini Reddy, she has done an amazing job with the film. It is very good that he showcases Samantha and emotionally narrates the film with good values and pure entertainment.
Overall
All in all, Oh Baby is a heartwarming family drama that touches your heart completely. Good emotions, good comedy, family values and romance, this movie has it all. The movie has a good connect factor that everyone can easily relate to. Samantha has taken her game to another level with this film and she will surely pull the crowds to the theaters with her career best performance. Telugu cinema has indeed been delivering some of the best content oriented films in recent times and Oh Baby is one of those films that should not be missed.
