Movie Review & Storyline

Mitra (Nandita) is a sincere girl working in a corporate company. Impressed by her, Mitra's boss (Ahsutosh Rana) tries to woo her and plans many problems for her in the office. But whenever Mitra faces a problem, Visva (Satyam Rajesh) enters the scene and continues to help her. Suspicious of Visva, Mitra mobilizes her friend and the police Gopal (prasanna). Who is this Visva? Why does he help Mitra? and how does he save Mitra from the evil clutches of his boss? To know the answers, you need to watch the movie on the big screen.

Satyam Rajesh plays the lead role well in the movie. He holds the film well with his sincere performance. Nandita looks beautiful in her Saree look and performs well in all the emotional scenes. Both their scenes are well done.

The main villain Ashutosh Rana is the focus of the film with his villainous act. He displays great emotions in the film with his subtle yet powerful expressions. Chandra of Jabardast fame was good as Rana's sidekick. His comedy jabs work here and there. The rest of the supporting cast was good.

One of the biggest flaws of the film is the complete lack of innovation in the story. The concept of this film has been used earlier in films like Yendukantha Premanta. Many of the horror scenes in the film are reminiscent of recent hits in Telugu.

The production values of the film are quite bad and leave an unsettling effect on the audience. The screenplay goes for a rip off as none of the horror scenes make an impact. The second half of the film goes for the grind as the sentiments seem forced and tired.

The camera work looks bad in the movie as the visuals are sub par. Surprisingly, the music by Anup Rubens is terrible and so was the background. The editing of the film is good. As far as director Raj Kiran is concerned, he has done a subpar job with his execution. He failed to lift the key scenes and went down in the first half of the film.

All in all Vishwamitra is a typical non mainstream horror thriller. The concept itself is old and the narration is not impressive at all. Satyam Rajesh and Nandita manage to strike a chord with their performances but the rest of the proceedings are so boring that they offer you nothing new. Skip the movie this weekend and look for something more fun and productive.
