Vijay is back with another movie titled Anthony Killer. This film, which also stars action king Arjun, has hit the screens today. Let's see how it is.

Storyline

The film is based on a gruesome murder in an apartment. The cops start an investigation and hand over the responsibility to senior cop Karthikeya (Arjun) to solve the case.

During his investigation, he learns that the mother and daughter, played by Sita and Ashima, were involved in the murder. But as the investigation deepens, it is revealed that a neighbor named Prabhakar (Vijay Anthony) is also involved in the case. Now why is he involved in this? what is the situation? and Prabhakar's relationship with the ladies forms the rest of the story.

The film's screenplay is its greatest asset. Even though it's a straightforward murder mystery, the way the twists are told is pretty good. The proceedings are conducted in such a way that the audience continues to guess the tension until the last minute.

Killer is effective thanks to Arjun's outstanding performance. He did a good job as a smart cop. All his investigation scenes are top notch and Arjun brings a lot of depth to the film with his screen presence.

Vijay Anthony was decent in his submissive role in the film. Heroine Ashima performed well along with senior actress Sita. The interval bang shown is a good twist in the film. Pre-climax episodes and conversations between Nasser and Arjun give this crime thriller an edge.

One of the biggest negatives of the film is that there are two songs in the first half. Come to think of it, the movie moves along nicely, the songs come with speed breakers. Also, the film is slow in the pre-interval scenes as the tension drags unnecessarily. It's no fun, and all who watch it from that point of view will be disappointed.

The film's production values are high. The camera work deserves a special mention as the drone shots in the film are very good. The Telugu dubbing done by Hema Chandra for Vijay Anthony was quite good. In the second part, the background of the film was quite attractive. The film is made on a crisp budget but looks rich.

As for director Andrew Lewis, he did a decent job with the film. He doesn't experiment much and has written a compelling script. The movie doesn't have many big twists but the way it maintains the tension was good. If he improved the first half a bit, things would have been even better.

Overall

Overall, Killer is a simple crime thriller with good points in both parts. The film doesn't have too many twists or turns, but a simple suspense is sustained till the end with a neat screenplay that makes this film a worthy watch this weekend. Watch it without any expectations and you will love it too.
